The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is the competent authority that is responsible for the GB Biocidal Products Regulation (GB BPR), including authorisation of biocidal products for use in Great Britain. Its role includes assessing the risks of active substances and products to humans and the environment, authorising national applications, managing the approval process for active substances, and enforcing regulations to ensure public safety. The HSE also leads on reforms to the BPR, aiming to improve the regulatory framework while maintaining high safety standards.
