International Ozone Association (IOA) — International Conference, Swansea, United Kingdom, 26th – 28th October, 2016: Ozone as active substance under the Biocidal Products Regulation University of Swansea, October 26th 2016

Mr. Paolini, chairman of EurO₃zon, presented at the IOA conference in Swansea a key note lecture about the biocidal product regulation. He gave a fundamental review about the biocidal regulation for ozone and its application in the EU. Furthermore he provided a status update on the progress of the active substance dossier currently being under review.

Essential information for the ozone market was provided (including operators and equipment manufacturers) that due to the early involvement by EurO₃zon it can be expected that by end of 2017 the validation of the active substance dossier (ASD) will be completed. This is then confirming the legal status of ozone in Europe. Hence this date is approaching soon, EurO₃zon is recommending to any party in need of compliance with the Biocidal product regulation (EU 528/2012) obtaining access to a valid active substance dossier for ozone as soon as possible. Own experience has shown that creating a dossier is a long and laborious path, but even the less time- and resource- consuming access to an ASD via citation rights will take considerable time for evaluation, negotiation and business process. Hence there is no time to loose today – act now.
