EurO3zon dossier is now accepted for evaluation by the evaluating competent authority
Hofstade, Belgium 12th August 2015 - EurO3zon has now achieved another important milestone for obtaining the authorization of the active substance dossier for ozone to be used as a biocide.
The formal dossier submission process requires a format check in the first stage. This is performed by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) and is ensuring that the dossier has been submitted in the correct format.
EurO3zon has submitted the dossier to ECHA in June 2015 (05.06.2015). ECHA accepted the submission on July 27th following some extended effort related to the data submission tool IUCLID5. Subsequent the dossier was forwarded to the relevant evaluating competent authority (BAuA, Germany) which has begun the completeness check. In the meantime the dossier needed also to be submitted to BAuA in a hard copied version.
On Monday 10th of August EurO3zon was informed by BAuA that the validation of the dossier-application is completed. BAuA will now continue with the evaluation phase of the dossier. It is foreseen that this phase typically requires 365 days unless additional information is requested.
Once the work by the evaluating competent authority is completed the Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) will enter the peer review phase of 270 days and shall finally issue an opinion. In case there is no additional information requirement, this can be expected in May 2017.
Finally on the basis of the BPC opinion, the Commission will take a decision on the approval of the active substance.
