International Ozone Association - World Congress & Exhibition: Ozone as active substance under the Biocidal Products Regulation
Barcelona July 3, 2015
EurO3zon presented at the IOA conference in Barcelona the latest developments concerning the current status of the Biocidal Products Regulation (EU) No 528/2012. The presentation included details about the registration process and duties for entities bringing ozone to the European market with the intentional use as a biocide. Additional EurO3zon reported about the successful submission of the active substance dossier for ozone to ECHA.
Mr. Paolini reported about the dossier preparation process, “The good news is that the dossier has been filed with ECHA as promised. Even though the particular work required for providing the data for the core data set in sections 6 to 8 of the BPR was much underestimated. Especially if compared to the original planning. These sections contain e.g. data about the use, exposure and toxicology against humans and animals.”
Everyone who seeks to register ozone as a biocide would require either an own active substance dossier or access to an existing dossier. EurO3zon is going to offer access to the dossier by a so called Letter of Access (LoA). These LoAs can be obtained from EurO3zon directly for a cost compensation fee. This fee is split by the number of European countries a registrant requires. EurO3zon also implemented a fairness clause in order to pay back fees to the LoA owners in the case of that LoA sales are exceeding the actual incurred costs for the dossier approval.
